Images & Sound has expanded it's Sound Post offering by opening a new range of suites on the ground floor of it's 115 Grafton Road premises.
Adding to the exisiting facilities on the first floor, we have added a second Home Entertainment Dolby Atmos Mixing Theatre , a well as a new Foley Stage, Sound Design suite and Dialogue editing room.
“It’s a maaaaaaaan’s world, but it ain’t nothing without a woman or a girl” wailed the incredible Tami Neilson at the WIFT AWARDS 2018 on Thursday 1 March.
Her powerful performance set the tone for what was a truly brilliant night, with a strong sense of collaboration, community and celebration amongst many of the industry’s most outstanding and accomplished women.
Images & Sound has started 2018 as it finished 2017, investing in new technology to maintain it’s reputation as a leader in the ever changing world of Content delivery.
Co-owner and Head of Sound Steve Finnigan says their latest investments are timed to fit in with some downtime between projects to allow room for installation, testing and advanced learning.

Steve Finnigan and Grant Baker made the trek across the Tasman tonight to join Gaylene Preston, Catherine Madigan and Helen Clark at the world premiere of "My Year With Helen" - Gaylene's Feature Documentary about former NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark's bid for the position of Secretary General at the United Nations.

On 21 March, Wintec celebrated the outstanding achievements of the top students from its 2015 cohort at special awards ceremonies. New Zealand women’s success in film and television was once again celebrated at the WIFT Awards, held in February 2016 at the Grand Tearoom of the Heritage Hotel. We are proud to continue our support the awards, and the incredible achievements made by women in our industry.
Philly de Lacey took out the Images & Sound Award for Success in Television, with her extraordinary body of drama production in her role as CEO and Executive Producer for Screentime New Zealand.
It was a full-house and then some on Wednesday June 29 2016, when Images & Sound ran WIFT workshop “Conversations with a Colourist” for directors, producers and DOPs.
Images & Sound producer Samantha Jukes lead a conversation with two of the team: acclaimed colourist Alana Cotton (The Ground We Won, Deathgasm,The Last Saint, Dirty Laundry), and internationally renowned colourist and Baselight trainer Paul Lear (White Lies, Sione’s 2, 25 April, Hillary, Poe E).
Images & Sound has had a busy year working on fantastic New Zealand short films, many of which were selected to screen at this year’s New Zealand International Film Festival, and what success they have had.
Congratulations to Ross and Beth director Hamish Bennett who has won three of the four major prizes at the New Zealand International Film Festival including Best Short Film, Best Cinematography and The Audience Award.
Two of the toughest rivals in State of Origin history, Paul Gallen and Nate Myles have joined forces to encourage people to seek help for mental health issues. The “What’s Your State of Mind” campaign is aimed at breaking down stigmas around mental health and reminding people that it’s ok to seek help.
This year New Zealand Women have taken the world by storm, in literature and in music and now Images & Sound is proud to celebrate their success in film & television. Jane Campion took away the Images & Sound Award for Success in Television for her mini series Top of the Lake at this year’s the Women in Film and Television Awards.

South Pacific Picture’s feature film White Lies directed by Dana Rotberg has been submitted by the NZ Film Commission as the official New Zealand entry for consideration in the category of Best Foreign Language film for the 86th Academy Awards as well as being selected to screen in the Toronto International Film Festival in the Contemporary World Cinema Programme.

Images & Sound launched its new boutique sound mixing theatre to a group of the country’s most influential film industry icons. Designed by Tim Farrant to Theatrical specifications, the purpose built sound mixing theatre features a 32 fader dual control mixing desk combined with three Protools systems, a top of the line surround sound Genelec digital speaker system and a high definition projector with 4 meter screen, perfect for cinematic projects destined for theatrical or broadcast release.
Film, Television and Media Studies graduate Beyond Wen has won the annual Images and Sound ‘Geoff Evans Memorial Prize for Excellence in Screen Production’. His winning film The Education of Ming Ming is a comedy about an eight year old girl with an incredibly busy daily schedule supposed to help her achieve a “bright bright future”. Film-maker Beyond was inspired by some friends whose own childhood experiences were very similar to that of the main character Ming Ming’s.

The series reunites those Outrageous West sisters, Antonia Prebble and Siobhan Marshall and is set in an inner city law firm. They are leaders of the Society of the Blue Rose, a group of PA’s and computer nerds who swear to fight for justice and fairness, even if hey sometimes have to break the law to do so.
Images & Sound is pleased to offer music composition services for commercials, TV or film. Ben Sinclair has composed brand tracks for international clients such as Hotels.com, Prouds the Jewellers, Subway, Stevens, Janola, Stewart Dawson’s, the HPV campaign and Whitcoulls, as well as music for film and television projects including kids’ TV series Pop-Up and Moe and short films such as Mukpuddy’s Love in Decay (third place winner 2012 48 hour film challenge).
