Leanne Pooley on the set of Shackelton's CaptainImages & Sound VFX Supervisor Brenton Cumberpatch, was on set to assist with the direction of the visual effects scenes and used a breakthrough technique to track the camera in the scene to ensure the live action boat interacted well with the computer generated water scenes. The boat was also modeled by 3D Artist Dale Pretorius in Maya to use as device to enhance the effect of the CGI water.
“I’m enjoying the challenge of getting the Maya Ocean and real flow water particles to integrate seamlessly.”Motion Graphics artist Richard Borg is using Flare to create the maps used to plot Worsley’s journey from South Georgia and across the ice. He will also be charged with adding the icy breath to the characters to show the extreme cold in which this heroic journey took place.
